Bis 6 m hoher Strauch oder Baum mit weichhaarigen Zweigen. Blätter wechselständig, unpaarig gefiedert, mit 5-15 Fiederpaaren, bis 50 cm lang. Teilblätter lanzettlich, meist spitz gezähnt, unterseits blaugrün, zuerst behaart, später kahl. Blüten grünlich, 5zählig, Durchmesser ca. 5 mm, in einer schmalen, dichten, bis 20 cm langen Rispe. Früchte kugelig, einsamig, Durchmesser ca. 5 mm, leuchtend rot behaart, einen kompakten, kolbenartigen Fruchtstand bildend.
