40-120 cm hoch, 2- bis mehrköpfig, am Grund ohne braunen Faserschopf. Stängel dicht beblättert. Grundständige Blätter lanzettlich bis lineal, meist ganzrandig, oft wellig, die oberen sitzend und teilweise umfassend. Hülle zur Blütezeit 2-2,5 cm, später bis 4 cm lang. Blüten hellgelb. Früchte 10-20 mm lang, Pappus gelblich-weiss, etwa so lang wie die Frucht.
