Stängel 10-30 cm hoch, aufrecht oder aufsteigend, beblättert. Blätter bis 4 mm breit, vom Grund an verschmälert, gekielt, dunkelgrün glänzend. Blütenstand endständig, 1,5-3 cm lang, dicht, mit 2zeiligen, mehrblütigen, braunen Ährchen. Staubblätter 3, Narben 2. Perigonborsten braun, rau, länger als die Frucht. Umriss rund oder oval. Leitbündel in mehreren Reihen. Konische Stützen. Kleine Interzellularen, oft dreieckig. Grosse, unregelmässige Intercellularen. Epidermiszellen aussen verholzt.Description
Culm-diameter 1-2 mm, center full, radius of culm in relation to wall thickness 1:1. Outline circular with a smooth surface. Culm-center full, containing unlignified cells. Without cortex/stele separation. Endodermis absent. Epidermis cells inside thin, peripheral thickerwalled (lignified). Gaurd cells with externally acute ledge. Large vascular bundles arranged in 2-3 peripheral rows. Small or rudimentary vascular bundles within the chlorenchyma. Chlorenchyma present, continuous peripheral belt with unlignified round cells (like a large cortex). Sclerenchyma belt absent. Groups of sclerenchyma square or rectangular. Vascular bundles collateral closed. Sclerenchymatic sheath around vascular bundles circular large, 3 to x cells. Vessels arrangement in vascular bundles in lateral position. Largest vessel in the bundle 20-50 μm. Cavities (intercellulars) between parenchyma cells absent.
