Die Vegetation bildet einen niederwüchsigen, grellgrünen Rasen, in dem das Läger-Rispengras Poa supina dominiert. Die Flora dieses Lebensraumes ist nicht sehr artenreich. Unter den Begleitarten finden sich verschiedene Frauenmantel-Arten (Alchemilla fissa, A. monticola, A. subcrenata) und der Röhrige Gelbstern Gagea fragifera. Es handelt sich um Pioniervegetation der stickstoffhaltigen, feinerdigen Böden, die sich auf stark trittbelastetem Gelände entwickelt. Die kurzen Rasen befinden sich häufig in der Umgebung von Alphütten. Sie besiedeln aber auch beweidete Schneetälchen oder periodisch überschwemmte Mulden der alpinen Stufe.
