Bis 4 m hoher immergrüner Strauch. Blätter länglich-oval, 10-20 cm lang, ganzrandig bis unregelmässig gezähnt, oberseits glänzend dunkelgrün, stark runzelig, unterseits dicht filzig. Blüten weiss oder gelblich, in grossen, überwinternden, doldig-rispigen Blütenständen. Frucht eine eiförmige, erst rote, dann schwarze Beere.
