5-25 cm hoch, mit meist 2 grundständigen, linealen Blättern. Blüten in (1-)3-12blütigen Trauben. Perigon trichter- bis sternförmig, an der Basis zu 20-25 % miteinander verwachsen, blaulila mit scharf abgesetzter weisser Mitte, 12-20 mm lang. Staubblätter 6, aus der Krone herausragend, Staubbeutel gelb, etwa so lang wie die bandförmigen Staubfäden. Unter den Blütenstielen kleine, häutige Tragblätter. Frucht eine kugelige bis 3kantige, 3fächerige Kapsel.

Checklist 2017 comments

Neuer Name (Gattungswechsel): Im SISF-2 war das Taxon noch der Gattung Chionodoxa zugeordnet. Die Zuordnung folgt hier ausnahmsweise nicht dem SISF-2, sondern der Referenz Euro+Med. Damit kann vermieden werden, dass etliche weitere potenziell verwildernde Arten, die in Gärten gepflanzt werden, ebenfalls unter dem Namen Chionodoxa in die Referenzlisten aufgenommen werden müssen. Eine spätere Zuordnung zur Gattung Scilla würde dann zu vielen unnötigen Synonymen führen. Korrigierter Name: Die Beschreibung und Illustration von Chionodoxa luciliae in der Flora Helvetica (5. Aufl.) entspricht in Wirklichkeit Scilla forbesii (Baker) Speta (≡ Chionodoxa forbesii Baker).
