Bis 2 m hoch, mit überhängenden Zweigen und kräftigen, gebogenen, oft paarweise stehenden Stacheln. Blätter 5-9zählig, Teilblätter breit-lanzettlich, unterseits graugrün, Nebenblätter tief zerschlitzt. Blütenstände an den Enden kurzer Zweige, traubig-rispig, sehr reichblütig. Blüten klein, weiss oder blassrosa. Äussere Kelchblätter lang gefiedert, zurückgebogen, früh abfallend. Griffel zu einer schlanken Säule verwachsen. Frucht klein, dunkelrot.
