Bis 2 m lang, bis 80 cm hoch. Langer, kriechender oder schwebender Stängel, an den Knoten oft wurzelnd. Blätter wechselständig, dunkelgrün mit hellgrüner, glänzender Mittelrippe; polymorph, Schwimmblätter rund bis oval (2 x 3 cm) mit langen Stielen (> 2 cm), Luftblätter lanzettlich bis länglich (8 bis 10 cm) mit stumpfer Spitze; Nebenblätter rundlich bis oval. Blüten gelb, in den Blattachseln der emersen Stängel, 5zählig, Kronblätter 7-13(-16) mm lang. Fruchtkapsel ca. 3 cm lang.
