Stängel mit 1-2 Blättern, 20-40 cm hoch. Blätter 2-3fach 3teilig, Teilblätter 2-6 cm lang, breit-lanzettlich, am Grund herzförmig, gestielt und grannig gezähnt, oft mit rotem Rand. Blattgrannen oft > 1 mm lang, 45-60° abstehend. Blütenstand rispig, wenigblütig, von einem Blatt überragt, weichhaarig, drüsenlos. Blüten 4zählig. Kronblätter braunrot, 3-5 mm lang, mit gelben, sackartig gespornten Nebenkronblättern. Kelchblätter früh abfallend. Frucht eine trockene, 2klappig aufspringende Kapsel.
