Bis 5 m hoher Baum oder Strauch. Junge Triebe dicht graufilzig. Blätter oval, ganzrandig, mit kleiner Spitze, ausgewachsen oberseits dunkelgrün, kahl, unterseits dicht graufilzig. Blüten meist einzeln, endständig. Kronblätter blassrosa oder weiss mit roten Nerven. Staubbeutel gelb, Staubfäden violett. Kelchblätter graufilzig, zurückgebogen, bis zur Fruchtreife bleibend. Frucht gelb, dicht flaumig, je nach Sorte birnen- oder apfelförmig.
