Species description (Flora Helvetica 2018)

5-30(-50) cm hoch, unverzweigt. Alle Blätter grundständig, schmal-lanzettlich, in einen langen Stiel verschmälert, flutend oder aus dem Wasser ragend. Blüten lang gestielt in einfacher Dolde oder in 2-4 übereinanderstehenden Quirlen. Perigonblätter 6, 3 äussere grün, 3 innere weiss oder hellrot mit gelbem Grund, 2-3mal so lang wie die äusseren. Staubblätter 6. Früchtchen zahlreich, ca. 2 mm lang, in kugeligen Köpfchen.
